ABOUT

Kathryn grew up in the Lune Valley where the three beautiful counties of Lancashire, Cumbria and Yorkshire meet. Here she spent all her time surrounded by horses and this knowledge and understanding is evident in her art.

Kathryn studied at the White Cross College of Art and Design, Lancaster and then Birmingham City University. After completing her degree she worked in the advertising industry for many years as an award winning Art Director, before returning full circle - back to her love of horses and painting.

Working mainly in watercolour on acrylic, Kathryn likes to create vibrant, dynamic backgrounds to capture mood and movement that suit and offset each individual horse that she paints. Her use of watercolour is far from the traditional approach, choosing to apply and blend it in such a way that it really captures the depth, strength and beauty of this majestic animal.
